We know that there is stigma and shame around many of the symptoms that are caused by pelvic floor issues, and that there is a good chance that you have previously been told that whatever you are experiencing is “normal,” “part of getting older” or “just how your body is during pregnancy and after childbirth.”
We believe that just because something may be common does not mean it is normal, which is why we dedicated this space to the rarely talked about, often taken for granted and wildly misunderstood foundation of a healthy life… YOUR PELVIC FLOOR.
The Connection Between Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Many people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or hypermobility don’t realize how much their “bendy” joints impact their pelvic floor health. What starts as flexibility in childhood can shift into stiffness, pain, and pelvic floor dysfunction in adulthood. In this post, I share the connection between hypermobility and pelvic floor issues, common patterns I see in my clinic, and why I’m excited to now be listed in the EDS Healthcare Professionals Directory to help more clients in Southwest Michigan find the support they need.
